2020 Bordeaux Tournament - covid informations

 Tournament and pandemic context

In the context of the pandemic we are experiencing, we asked ourselves the question of maintaining the Bordeaux tournament, as well as its status as a European tournament. The European Go federation having asked us to co-organize the Grand Slam Qualification Tournament (GSQT) the two days before the tournament, we finally decided to maintain the Bordeaux tournament. However, many modifications and precautions will take place to adapt to the context.

1 - Pandemic context and health rules.

Both the GSQT and the Bordeaux tournament will be held at the Domaine de la Dune which is subject to strict rules: wearing a mask is compulsory within the site. Safety distances should also be followed. Thus the rooms and dormitories will see their capacities reduced (except in the case of people coming from the same household). When making your reservation, you will be asked to let us know if you have planned to share your room or dormitory with people in your household. this may change the type of room we can grant you.

The Bordeaux club is also responsible for the two tournaments, being reserving the site with its owner, the Bordeaux town hall. We do not wish to be at the origin of an episode of diffusion of the coronavirus: for our health first, for the image of go then. However, we believe that it is possible to organize a tournament between reasonable people, to participate in a friendly and pleasant event: life goes on. Rules will be put in place and the club reserves the right to exclude players who refuse to join.

Go is a risk factor for contamination insofar as players are often face to face for several hours and handle the same stones and the same equipment.

You will therefore be asked:

to wear a mask inside the Domaine de la Dune, outside your rooms.
to clean your hands (soap or gel) between each game
to clean your hands before the final count.
clean the clocks and stones quickly after each game using the wipes made available to you.

When registering, you must sign a document ensuring that you are aware of the rules that we must enforce on the site and that you consent to them. Players who refuse these rules may be excluded from the tournament by the organizers.

2 - Cancellation risk

Please note that in the event of a ban on organizing the tournament resulting from a decision by the authorities related to the coronavirus, you will be reimbursed for what you have paid us (registration, accommodation, meals). On the other hand, in the event that you cannot come without this being the result of a decision by the authorities, we will probably not be able to reimburse you (this can be discussed on a case-by-case basis).
